Our mission is simple: help travel professionals work smarter, faster, and more efficiently. By combining modern software with artificial intelligence, we reduce repetitive work, eliminate operational friction, and allow travel advisors to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional customer experiences. Today, travel agencies across multiple countries rely on Lato to create itineraries, collaborate internally, manage travel content, and communicate with travelers. We are now expanding our engineering team in Egypt and are looking for an Engineering Lead who wants to help shape both our product and our engineering culture.   The Opportunity As Engineering Lead, you will play a key role in the future of our platform. You will remain hands-on in the codebase while also providing technical leadership to the engineering team. You will help define architecture, review code, mentor developers, improve engineering processes, and ensure projects are delivered with high quality. This is not a pure management position. We are looking for a strong engineer who enjoys building software while helping other developers grow. You will work directly with the founders and have significant influence over technical decisions, team standards, and the future direction of the platform.   What You'll Do Technical Leadership Design and implement scalable backend and frontend solutions. Help define the architecture of new features and systems. Drive technical discussions and engineering decisions. Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges. Team Leadership Lead code reviews and maintain high engineering standards. Mentor and support software engineers. Help establish engineering best practices and development processes. Contribute to hiring and technical interviewing. Delivery & Execution Work closely with product and leadership teams to plan and deliver projects. Break down complex initiatives into clear technical tasks. Ensure engineering work is delivered on time and with high quality. Drive accountability and ownership within the team. AI & Innovation Help integrate modern AI technologies into the platform. Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and technologies. Work on intelligent automation, recommendation systems, and AI-powered workflows.   What We're Looking For Required 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience with: TypeScript, Node.js, React and PostgreSQL Experience building and maintaining production SaaS applications. Experience designing and consuming REST APIs. Strong understanding of software architecture and system design. Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring developers. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong written and spoken English. Nice to Have Experience leading small engineering teams. Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. Experience with AI technologies and LLM integrations.
