Position Overview
The IT Infrastructure & Support Administrator is responsible for the health, performance, and security of Gemma's network, hardware systems, and software applications. This hybrid role combines proactive network and systems administration with responsive end-user technical support — maximizing uptime for critical infrastructure while delivering excellent support to both on-site and remote employees.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Network Administration
Administer, monitor, and maintain the corporate network — LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, and VPN — to ensure availability, performance, and security.
Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows and/or Linux), storage, and virtualization; manage capacity and performance.
Implement and maintain network and endpoint security — firewalls, antivirus/endpoint protection, patching, and access controls.
Design and maintain backup and recovery for servers and critical data; participate in disaster-recovery planning and testing.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and directory services (e.g., Active Directory), including onboarding and offboarding.
Monitor infrastructure proactively and respond to alerts to minimize downtime for critical systems.
End-User Technical Support
Provide responsive technical support to on-site and remote employees — hardware, software, network connectivity, email, and business applications.
Log, manage, and resolve support tickets through to closure; escalate complex issues appropriately.
Set up and configure end-user devices — PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
Administer and support common business and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 and email).
Maintain documentation, knowledge-base articles, and IT asset and inventory records.
